PRAYER
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
“Together, we pray that our efforts will continue to be led by the Holy Spirit. May the Lord bless all of us with the gifts of hope and courage. May we continue to offer our prayerful understanding, support, assistance and cooperation in this initiative. Commitment to and reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us are essential.” (Diocese of Baton Rouge Pastoral Planning Task Force Report and Recommendations. February 2017.)
SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATION
“Amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19)
VISION
In Saint Jude Parish, while all ministries are guided by PRAYER, there are those that have as their specific goal, enhancing the prayer life of our community and its members. Particular emphasis is devoted to providing resources for prayer, environments for prayer, enabling parishioners to meet, share, and pray in small groups, offering prayer and reflection opportunities for parishioners by age-groups, and other similar opportunities. Ministries that are specifically prayer-centered include:
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Parishioners of all ages are encouraged to spend time in quiet personal prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. We offer adoration twice a week on Tuesdays following 5:30 pm Mass and Wednesday mornings prior to noon Mass, beginning at 10:00 am. Adoration is a powerful way of enhancing your prayer life and bringing you closer to our Lord. Consider praying as a family, strengthening your core family closeness.

The St. Jude Parish Bereavement Ministry Support Group is an opportunity for
those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to gather for sharing and
conversation, to hear occasional guest speakers, and to pray together in support
of one another. The group also shares in an annual holiday time potluck supper at
Christmastime.
Our pastor, Fr. Trey Nelson, serves as facilitator. Meetings take place in the
former St. Jude Youth House (the former Administration Building, located at 9150
Highland Road.)
Come, Lord Jesus! is a Bible Study and So Much More!
Modeled after Jesus’ formation of the disciples (Acts 2:42) Come, Lord Jesus!
utilizes group dynamics for spiritual growth and faith formation, fortifying
members with the apostolic mission and re-establishing the zeal of the early Church. Divinely inspired and uniquely designed, Come, Lord Jesus! creates an
atmosphere of prayer and helps to develop an awareness of the Divine Presence as well as nurtures an ardent desire for God.
Adult Programs
The Come, Lord Jesus! program presents the Word of God and the teachings of
the faith in a context of prayerful reflection within a community of Christian love.
Through weekly meetings, prayer, and scriptural study, members are formed into
ardent apostolic witnesses and dedicated parish ministers. The program is based
on the three-year cycle of Sunday readings. The group reflects upon one reading
each week following an easy-to-follow, organized format. Members begin with the
Study of the Gospels (Cycles A, B, and C)
